A Practical Action Plan for Administrators who are looking to empower and build capacity among staff, colleagues and students.


We must:


● Establish: a safe, positive learning environment free of judgment or ridicule. One
that is risk free for all participants.

● Encourage: open and honest communication. Once we have established a risk
free environment, communication must be open, honest and a “two way street.”
We want to encourage our constituents to brainstorm and be thought partners in
our work.

● Ensure: everyone has a voice. Provide opportunities for everyone to participate –
different forms of communication (written and verbal); taking into consideration
and acknowledging that people’s comfort level will vary. How will you respond
and prepare for such?

● Equip: Everyone has the necessary tools, materials, resources to successfully
implement and complete the task congruent to the established
standards/expectations.

● Entrust: that the individual, group or committee will do a GREAT job!

***** Progress Monitor or at the completion of the task or activity, establish a time to
debrief and reflect. Establish and Encourage are especially important at this time as
feedback is given.
